2023 Wrap Up - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (Mistakes)

2023 Wrap Up - The Good, The BaD and the Ugly (MIstakes)

We are coming to the end of a year full of eventful milestones with regard to the inevitable rolling out of digital monies, commodities and assets.

In order to help make sense of 2023 in hindsight, and to help see the broader trends that are so often confused by the chaos of the moment, we are happy to share with you our latest webinar: 2023 Wrap Up which this year we are titling - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (mistakes).

If you were unable to join us for the webinar itself, we invite you to view the recorded version.

Without going through the detail, here are the most important takeaways from 2023:

  • The good is clear - the adoption of digital monies, commodities and assets has been accelerating globally and we recap some of the evidence that excites us the most.

  • The bad is equally clear, and probably hogged the limelight far too much. Bad actors, and bad practices, are far too prevalent in finance and commerce. They always have been, always will be, and unfortunately in crypto we saw Willie Sutton's old maxim in full force: The bad guys rob the banks because that is where the money is. Unfortunately those tasked with stopping them stood idly by (or even met them frequently during the bank heist process)

  • The ugly mistake is mostly here in the US where we are actively harming our own long term interests and giving the rest of the world a first mover advantage that will not only be hard to catch up, but which may see the undermining of the very basis of US global competitive advantage.

If those underlined words do not get your attention, we think they should.

Please listen to our webinar to understand what we mean by them.

Thank you for reading our newsletters all year long. Thank you for being believers that we are moving to a digital world in which communications, content and commerce are fully digitalized. And thank you for supporting the innovators that are driving this unlocking of consumer benefit that will be the largest value and wealth creation event that we expect to ever live through.

Have a great new year and see you in January if not before.
