Shanshan to Build China’s Biggest Lithium Battery Material Production Base

Shanshan New Material Co. signed a contract to invest 3 billion yuan ($486 million) to build China’s largest production base of lithium battery anode materials in Hunan’s Ningxiang county, an industry website reported today. 

The project, covering an area of 339 mu, will produce 100,000 tonnes of lithium battery anode materials upon competition, and will generate an annual production value of up to 15 billion yuan, the report said. 

The 1st phase of the project, with an area of 122 mu, will come online in 2015, and make 15,000 tonnes of the products, with output value expected at 1.5 billion, according to the report.
